ENSTP Entrepreneurship Round Table Café: Synergy for Sustainability

As part of the ENSTP Entrepreneurship Round Table Café, a panel discussion took place on Saturday, May 4, 2024, centered around the theme “Synergy for Sustainability: ENSTP Takes Action.” The Director of ENSTP opened the session by underscoring the institution’s steadfast dedication to addressing current environmental challenges, particularly through collaboration with partners in the public works sector.

She emphasized the critical role of public works in society and the environmental issues it presents, notably the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Participants were encouraged to discuss effective strategies for achieving significant reductions in these emissions. The meeting aimed to facilitate the sharing of resources, skills, and expertise to enhance benefits while minimizing environmental impacts. The students and doctoral candidates at the school possess the necessary skills and knowledge to launch start-ups or micro-businesses focused on decarbonization.

The meeting was structured into two segments:

1. Introduction:

The session began with an introduction by the director of the ENSTP research laboratory.

2. Presentations:

  • Professor Abdelbaki from the University of Tlemcen discussed the environmental challenges facing Algeria.
  • A video presentation by Mr. Karim Keita, a sustainable development expert from Switzerland, focused on “Decarbonizing the Construction and Public Works Sector in Algeria: Challenges and Solutions.”
  • Mr. Benattia Mabrouk, Head of the Safety Risk Management Department at Qatar Energy, presented strategies for decarbonizing construction and public works activities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
  • The segment concluded with a video by Paul Sébastien, an expert in raw materials and carbon from Switzerland, addressing “The Carbon Challenge in Public Works: Constraints and Opportunities.”

The second part of the meeting was dedicated to a debate featuring prominent figures from the public works sector, along with experts and faculty researchers from ENSTP.
